Due to my 4-9 record in the 2014 fantasy football season, I have the honor of choosing my draft position for this season’s draft. It is a 12 team, snake draft keeper league. My keeper is going to be either Cam Newton (valued as a 15th round pick) or Ryan Tannehill (also valued as a 15th round pick). I’m leaning towards Cam Newton, but that is another topic. I can choose any place to draft but I cannot decide. I like the idea of the 12th pick because I can get that back to back, but I also have to wait a very long time after that second pick to draft. I like drafting 2-5 because I still get that elite player but again, on the way back there will be a lot of good players coming off the board. And of course picking towards the end of the round means I see good players initially come off the board, but then I can get two pick in rapid succession.
So what do you think? This is the year I need to make moves from the cellar to the top. With either Cam Newton or Ryan Tannehill leading the way, what draft position should I pick?

Eddie with all due respect I don't think it is a debate between Newton and Tannehill. I would go with Tannehill no question. Has a much better cast of receivers to throw to as Kenny Stills and Jordan Cameron join Jarvis Landry and RB Lamar Miller who can catch. The offensive line is also improve. Meanwhile I like drafting 12th because you can get a good receiver like Alshon Jeffery and a RB like an Arian Foster or a Justin Forsett there. Better to get two of the top 12 instead of 2 of the top 24.

Seems like you're already hamstrung by a very average QB (top 12 at best??). I'd go with your 2-5 strategy. It's nice to have 2 top 13 players, but I'd rather have 3 top 26 players. Look at your past drafts, anything after round 4 is a crap shoot. Stick with the top WR/RB combo for your first 3 picks then fill in with best player available. Personally, I'd go with 3, then pay attention to what teams 1 & 2 have. You can usually get some feel for what they'll pick before you get to go again.
